NFWSD

I have been a knitter since childhood but didn’t start spinning until I was in my twenties when I became a member of the Middle Essex Guild. We moved to Wiltshire just over six years ago and I was very home sick having lived in Essex for so long and missed my friends. However I joined the New Forest Guild and was immediately made to feel at home, everyone was so welcoming and new friendships soon grew. I was persuaded to ‘have a go at weaving by a much missed member, Pat Meadon. I had never understood the attraction of weaving but she convinced me I should should try it. Since that first time it has become something of a passion. I enjoy all aspects of the craft (even sampling) my only regret is that I didn’t start weaving earlier. I have discovered new skills and improved old ones through the many and varied workshops organised by the Guild and without exception everyone has been extremely helpful and generous in sharing their knowledge. I really look forward to our meetings which are relaxed and friendly affairs yet at the same time I always come away feeling I have learnt something more about the fascinating art of spinning and weaving.
